Beauty Is a Beast

What is beauty? Is it really only in the eye of the beholder? Is it only skin deep? Maybe it's both. Maybe it's neither.

I've heard some define it as something internal - "she has a beautiful spirit" - and others as something external - "she has a beautiful face". Is it a weapon? Is it a tool? Is it an unattainable goal?

I grew up in a time and place where how one looks is almost as important as how one acts. Pedigree and education are great, but a pretty face can be a much more useful asset when wielded correctly.

I’ve witnessed beauty facilitate the pursuit of happiness in ways I never imagined possible. I have experienced how different my own life could be if only beauty and I were best friends instead of acquaintances.

What is beauty? Does anyone really know? I certainly don’t. But maybe we can figure it out together.
