It's never a good sign when you get on the scale and it says "Err", but that's exactly what happened to me recently. And this wasn't just a $20 scale I picked up at Wal-Mart to help me keep track of my weight loss, mind you. It was the $80 fat scale from Bed, Bath & Beyond I bought because I was too large and in charge to actually weigh myself on a regular scale. The highest this scale goes is 445 lbs., and I knew I was in trouble in a big way when I looked down.

So, there it was. "Err". What a way to start the day.

I lost 45 pounds last year using My Fitness Pal and making healthy choices. Then came the holidays. As I said in a previous post, I jumped head-first off the diet wagon into a lasagna and sugar pile. It was a glorious two months, only it didn't end with the end of December. The weight came back and so did an extra 20+ pounds. It was the Christmas gift I have never wanted and cannot seem to return.

Now, I am back at the start, and I have a nasty "Err" staring back at me from my scale. To err is human, so maybe my scale thinks I'm a reincarnated Alexander Pope. Maybe it's my scale's way of trying to tell me to forgive my food indiscretions and find my way back to a number. Either way, I've got work to do.

I am back on My Fitness Pal and I am making small goals so that the large goal at the end of my tunnel doesn't scare me off from the finish line. I'm going to baby step my way down from the "Err" and once I do, I'll set a new goal. I didn't get to the "Err" overnight and I won't get to my goal weight overnight either.

So here I go.

Goal #1 - Make the "Err" a number again.

UPDATE 5/20/2013: I am excited to report that when I weighed this morning that the ERR is now a NUMBER! Goal #1 has officially been accomplished!!
